Feminist Therapy And Postmodern Approach
[ send me this essay ]
4 pages in length. One of the most prominent issues pertaining to the notion of feminist therapy and postmodern approach is how this particular population is routinely intermixed with other multicultural subgroups that do not "conform their lives to the truths and reality of the dominant society of which they are a part" (Corey, 2004, p. 410). Consequently, it has been necessary to establish an entirely separate approach to addressing the unique components of feminist therapy so as to underscore the combined aspects of gender and power. Fictional Portrayals of Women: William Faulkner Contrasted with Margaret Atwood
[ send me this essay ]
A 5 page comparison of the portrayals of women found in William Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying" and Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale". Observes that the characterization of women in "As I Lay Dying" differs significantly from that in "The Handmaid's Tale". While the women in Faulkner's book are presented as simpletons and immoral, Atwood's women are presented as highly intelligent despite the societal prohibitions for being so and highly moral despite the forced circumstances of their lives. Both portrayals, however, are replete with stereotypical representations of women. In "The Handmaid's Tale", however, we are reassured that women are not shallow, not by nature promiscuous, despite the societal circumstances in which they may be forced to live.

Fictional Story Set In South Africa
[ send me this essay ]
7 pages in length. Attending their junior year in college abroad, Adrienne and Camille chose South Africa as their cultural enlightenment. Indeed, the girls' collective experience with social services afforded them a much better opportunity to apply their academic talents than by choosing a more socially advanced society. Anticipated yet realistic at the same time, both Adrienne and Camille thought they understood the cultural, political and social intensity inherent to South Africa; only after they experienced its profundity firsthand did they actually realize the overwhelming sense of authoritarianism and gender discord.
