Why Do We Work?: The Importance Of Job Title
[ send me this essay ]
7 pages in length. Apart from finding gainful employment as a means by which to pay bills, raise families and secure retirement options, people work in order to prove themselves worthy. Upholding an efficacious work ethic is something that is taught through many years of positive influence, which is why there exists a certain portion of the population that does not harbor this critically important characteristic and, thereby, does not look upon work as a beneficial element in one's overall existence. To work is to produce; to be productive is to make a difference; to make a difference is what it means to be alive. Annotated bibliography lists 7 sources.

Why Kids Kill
[ send me this essay ]
3 pages in length. Begley et al (1999) point out that while some people may be more biologically predisposed to violence, this tendency can be either lessened or amplified by the way in which the child is raised. The presence of such elements as abuse, guns, drugs/alcohol or inadequate parenting - according to the authors - is enough to tip some biologically inclined youth over the edge toward murderous behavior. With chemical imbalance and frontal lobe lesions two of the most applicable aspects of biological predisposition toward excessive violence, the authors point out how these already unstable individuals do not need much in the way of motivation to carry out what other people would never have the wherewithal to do. The inherent lack of emotional sensitivity is the key indicator of mental imbalance, whereby children and/or youth are devoid of the otherwise normal understanding that what they have done - or will do - is wrong. Bibliography lists 1 source.

Why Psychology Is Considered A Science
[ send me this essay ]
6 pages in length. The evolution of psychology emerging as a science stemmed from the concept of behaviorism and what motivated conduct in certain situations. Was humanity merely bound by determinism without the ability to choose, or did he harbor free will with which to guide his own existence? These ponderings ultimately gave way to a more concrete concept termed cognitive science from which the basis of psychology inevitably developed. Bibliography lists xox sources.
