The Ego and His Own
[ send me this essay ]
A 5 page paper discussing the book “The Ego and His Own :
The Case of the Individual Against Authority” by Max Stirner. In this book the reader is
provided with a great amount of information that is very interesting in relationship to the
individual and their unique search for a level of contentment. Stirner places this need far
above the need for a controlled government and while this may appear to be anarchy, it is
actually an issue that goes deeper than that. It is an anarchy, for the most part, that can
provide all people with their ownness which would result in all people experiencing their
required level of contentment. While this is highly unlikely, Stirner illustrates that it is
more important for individuals to seek out their own enlightenment, than it is to rely on
the government to do it for them. No additional sources cited.

The Ethical Argument Regarding Sexual Conversion Psychotherapy
[ send me this essay ]
This is a 7 page paper discussing the ethical arguments in relation to sexual conversion psychotherapy. It is unethical to attempt to modify sexual orientation through psychotherapy due to the fact that homosexuality is not a mental illness and using therapies designed for mental illness are not only detrimental for the client but are also misrepresenting homosexuality as a mental illness. Despite the fact that the American Psychiatric Association (APA) has deemed sexual conversion therapies as unethical practice, many therapists still offer this “treatment” to clients based on their feelings that it is unethical to disregard patient wishes. However, since there is no scientific or historical treatments which have shown any success in sexual conversion therapy, psychotherapists who “treat” clients for their sexual preferences are not only unethical because they are providing therapy which they know is ineffective but they are also taking payment for failed therapy. Rather than support clients in their sexual preferences and offer counseling in regards to handling stresses and pressures from society, psychotherapists who attempt sexual conversion therapy leave their clients with lower self-esteem and self-identification issues than when they first came to the therapists because they perceive that they have failed “treatment”.

The Ethical Relationship Between Sexual Offenders And Their Counselors
[ send me this essay ]
14 pages in length. When one enters the field of
professional counseling, one is bound to learn things from patients to which no one else in the entire world would be privy; maintaining a strong element of trust, confidentiality and impartiality are essential to upholding customary code of ethics each counselor vows to support. Indeed, counselors have a great deal of influence upon their patients, as it is their expertise and guidance for which people seek them out. However, there are multiple codes of ethics that creates confusion for both patients and caregivers, and is counterproductive to the efforts of counseling to establish itself as a true profession. When addressing the relationship between counselor and sexual offender, the ethical guidelines become even more critical. Bibliography lists 13 sources.
