President Bush: Popularity Before And After September 11th
[ send me this essay ]
5 pages in length. It is quite amazing the impact a singular event can have upon the face of history, particularly when that event is as politically and socially catastrophic as the September 11th terrorist attacks. This date marked the day when many things changed for many people with regard to personal issues and concerted fears of national safety. Something else changed that day, however, that marked yet another monumental by-product of the terrorist attacks that forever altered America's support for its president. Indeed, September 11th is now known as the turning point in George W. Bush's presidential career, inasmuch as his approval rating soared in alliance with his defiant dedication to supporting his American constituency in this time of great trouble. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

President Carter, US-Soviet Relations And The Eventual Fall Of The Soviet Union
[ send me this essay ]
10 pages in length. The evolution of President Carter's policies regarding US-Soviet relations and human rights indicates he made a fundamental reevaluation of US policy and approach to the Soviets. This change in policy direction lead to the course of events that eventually caused the fall of the Soviet Union. Historically, foreign policy has typically reflected an attempt to coexist within the boundaries of civilized reality; however, the divided interpretations of what civilized reality truly means have often clouded the very essence behind the concept of foreign policy. When the established policy does not provide for friendly relations, the only alternative arrangement finds that the parties involved are struggling to overpower each other in an attempt to either acquire or maintain political superiority. President Carter did not care for this acrimonious approach to foreign relations and did his part to hold "other countries to the highest standard possible, a standard by which, he believed, Americans would want themselves to be judged" (Anonymous, 2002). Bibliography lists 13 sources.

President Gerald Ford: Legislative Agenda And Relationship With The Courts

Ford had what might be called a tentative relationship with the courts due to his oft-unpopular legislative agenda, much of which was directly attributable to the Vietnam War and President Richard M. Nixon's pardon. However, even as opposing as their relationship may have been in relation to these issues, there was numerous legislation borne out of a mutual understanding and agreement. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

President Harry S. Truman - Domestic Programs
[ send me this essay ]
An 8 page research paper that discusses the domestic programs proposed by President Truman. "When modern-day historians rank Truman, they place him among the top ten presidents, and some have him just below FDR, Lincoln, and George Washington." Why is this when more of Truman's programs were rejected by Congress than programs accepted and approved. Truman took office at a time when this nation was facing serious challenges. His Fair Deal, which included 21 programs, was mostly rejected by Congress but Truman began a path of values and institutions that every subsequent president has followed. This essay discusses these issues. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
