How And Why The U.S. Military Has Repeatedly Been Unprepared To Execute Its Primary Mission At The Outbreak Of Hostilities
[ send me this essay ]
7 pages in length. Stepping foot onto the battlefield is the final component in a long line of preparations whereby the individual who initiates that step is mentally, physically and strategically ready for combat. Unfortunately, this common sense approach to military operations There are a number of considerations above and beyond acquiring a good tactical leader that determine successful organizational strategy in combat. Identifying the root factors affecting the U.S. military's readiness to perform its primary function during the initial stages of Task Force Smith and Operation Desert Storm reveal two indefensible reasons: deplorable leadership and inadequate ammunition. The lack of appropriate training in conjunction with insufficient, inoperable or undersupplied munitions created a scenario whereby every soldier who stepped forth into battle was sure to be ill-equipped to come out alive. How Can The U.S. Credibly And Ethically Deter Adherents Of Extremist Religious Ideologies From Engaging In Terrorist Activity?
[ send me this essay ]
15 pages in length. Deterring undesirable behavior in general typically elicits the response to disturb the perpetrator's life in some significant way so he will make the conscious decision to stop the behavior. Children who act out are often restricted from doing a particular activity they truly covet, thereby impacting their lives by forcibly forfeiting their pleasure principle. Once this valued commodity is withdrawn once or twice, the child learns how the motivation to display the undesirable behavior is not as valuable as the absent activity and chooses to stop. This basic standard of punishment/reward can only work, however, when the perpetrator actually values something in his life and will respond when it is removed; because al-Qaeda does not value life - even and perhaps especially their own - universal terrorist-related punishment of losing one's freedom and even one's life holds no threat and thereby fails to quell terrorist activity. In order to reach these soulless individuals and deter their terrorist pursuits, the end result must be to thwart the one thing that matters to them: the intended outcome of their terrorist pursuits. In short, America must refrain from reacting to and/or reciprocating terrorist activity inasmuch as this is precisely what al-Qaeda wants. Bibliography lists 18 sources.

How Has The Minority Vote Effected American Presidential Elections?
[ send me this essay ]
12 pages in length. The extent to which minority vote has effected American presidential elections can be viewed from myriad perspectives; from political party to poll influence, the factors that impact the minority vote are certainly worthy of close consideration. Analysts routinely study behavior of minority voting and note that the primarily Democratic voting black population is far more easily read than the Hispanic community, whose voting behavior is significantly less predictable.
