Marxist Theory and Contemporary Societal Stratification

The reasons for this difference relate to the fact that civil rights in America today are quantum leaps ahead of what they were during the lifetimes of these two men. This is true from both a societal perspective and an economic perspective. The author concludes, however, that Weber’s multidimensional theories of social stratification continue to outweigh the Marxist view of social stratification in terms of applicability to contemporary U.S. society.
