Drug Companies Supplying Physicians With Incentives To Push Sales Of A Particular Drug: The Ethical Nature According To Kant
[ send me this essay ]
7 pages in length. To delve into the concepts of morality and knowledge in relation to drug companies supplying physicians with incentives to persuade them to prescribe high-cost drugs to their patients is to re-examine the wide and varying societal rules that bind one to one's cultural existence. Due in large part to Kant's (1948) enlightened writings, humanity constantly works hard to fend off inherent materialistic tendencies it harbors in exchange for acting upon the tenets of social responsibility; however, this particular situation throws humanity's efforts toward being a civilized being back by hundreds of years. Dual Nature of Justice
[ send me this essay ]
A 3 page argumentative essay that argues that justice is socially constructed. Historically, justice has been conceptualized in two distinctly different manners. First of all, it has been viewed as an eternal "true" idea that is independent of humanity and, secondly, it has been thought of as a "temporal man-made social ideal" (Justice). In other words, some philosophers have argued that justice exists separately from humanity and stems from a higher source. While human intelligence can seek to understand the nature of justice, and draw inspiration from it, there is an innate justice that exists independently of human intervention. The opposing viewpoint is that justice is defined and dependent on human perception for its inception and practice. This examination of these two positions demonstrates that concepts of justice are human inventions and, therefore, vary according to human societies, experience and perception. Rather than being innate and unchangeable, concepts of justice are constantly evolving along with the societies that create them. Bibliography lists 1 source.
