Total Quality Management And Quality By Inspection/Process Control
[ send me this essay ]
7 pages in length. The primary difference between maintaining quality through inspection and process control is that one is reactive and the other is proactive, a distinction that can cost a company significant lost revenue. The inspection function of quality is both conventional and outdated, inasmuch as taking a passive approach to maintaining excellence is no longer an option in this globalized world. The reactive nature of inspection is to either 1) conduct routine examination of policy, equipment or personnel based upon a factor of time frame instead of need or 2) respond to an emergency that occurred because functionality was not assessed more frequently and with greater attention paid to subtle cues. Proactivity, by contrast, is akin to preventive medicine by virtue of gathering information from past experience, examining it for trends & changes and applying it as a deterrent rather than waiting for things to go wrong. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Total Quality Management and Superlative Service at Ritz-Carlton Hotels
[ send me this essay ]
An 11 page paper discussing the second service organization, and the first hotel chain, to win the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Experts in TQM previously would have believed that a hotel chain would not have been able to achieve an atmosphere of total quality and continuous improvement, but Ritz-Carlton has demonstrated that such an achievement is indeed possible. TQM obviously has been achievable at Ritz-Carlton, and in meaningful and lasting ways - employee turnover has dropped to less than 30 percent in an industry where 'normal' is 100 percent, and customer satisfaction perennially remains at 97 percent. In order to continue the trend, however, Ritz-Carlton will need to take extra precaution in ensuring that it does not become complacent with its commitment to quality. Continuous improvement will be the key, a factor apparently recognized already by Ritz-Carlton management and employees alike. Bibliography lists 12 sources.

Total Quality Management Within the Radisson Hotel Corporation
[ send me this essay ]
10 pages in length. To develop a culture of total quality

based on the total quality management function within hotel

Total Quality Management's Evolutionary Path
[ send me this essay ]
A 4 page paper outlining the basic precepts
of TQM and then reviewing three articles discussing TQM. TQM is now 50 years old, but it has
never been more relevant than it is in today's business environment. Increasing competition has
forced organizations to treat employees as assets, which is more conducive to the participatory
management and information sharing critical in the full implementation of TQM. These articles
demonstrate that TQM is not only a management philosophy, it primarily is a common-sense
application that offers real solutions to many of the complexities of business. Bibliography lists 4
sources.

Total Quality Management, Capacity Management, Inventory Fundamentals And Forecasting
[ send me this essay ]
3 pages in length. Understanding and utilizing each of these four elements of contemporary commerce will enable the student to take part in - and rise above - the growing competition so prevalent in virtually every industry. Staying a step ahead of competitors is no longer a choice but rather a mandated action for organizational survival brought about by the ever-changing nature of globalization, a concept that has broken barriers so that countries are competing together where they had never done before. The components of total quality management, capacity management, inventory fundamentals and forecasting provide a basis upon which an organization's infrastructure can operate both soundly and productively. No bibliography.
